January 21st, 2013: Project Management Office Director
A DC based Client of our Firm is seeking a Project Management Office Director who is interested in a full-time billable position working across various Federal agency contracts and establishing best practices, processes, policies, and procedures for the Client.
The Project Management Office (PMO) Director is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the implementation of project delivery methodologies and seamless delivery across all revenue generating projects to ensure that such projects are delivered on-time, within the established project level of effort and budget, while achieving a high level of Client satisfaction and ensuring company objectives are achieved.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop, design, and implement a standardized Project Management Methodology and Quality Assurance Plan.
- Lead project governance to ensure that project budget, schedule, and scope are maintained within the approved project baselines.
- Collaborate with Engagement, Project, and Resource Managers across the Client to synchronize work plans and assign cross-departmental resources, minimizing conflicts across concurrent projects.
- Oversee team of Engagement Managers through all assigned project activities and phases. Provide assistance, direction and/or mentorship to ensure stated project activities and objectives are successfully accomplished.
- Provide corporate leadership for cross-functional, corporate-wide strategic projects and initiatives.
- Define, develop, and manage the program roadmap including budgets and project plans for all assigned projects.
- Construct and institutionalize Project Management Best Practices
Applicants must have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in the field of healthcare administration, business administration, public policy, engineering, technology, or management
- Five or more years of related work experience leading a PMO, or depending upon the size of the organization, managing discreet PMO components, preferably with a government contractor
- Five or more years of experience leading complex projects requiring multiple project managers
- PMP Certified
- Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Project
- Experience with the creation or growth of a PMO
- Initially the candidate will be required to manage projects and implement the Project Management Methodology and Quality Assurance Plan developed
- Experience in developing levels of effort, pricing and writing for new proposals
- Experience in federal contracting strongly preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Strong knowledge of business case development including cost/benefit analysis, Total Cost of Ownership, Total Value of Ownership and Earned Value Management
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills
- Outstanding organizational skills
